In a statement by the Director of Public Enlightenment for the Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, Halima Sani Gadaya said, “In a significant gathering organized by the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation to support Malam Abdullahi Mohd, who converted to Islam and was disowned by his family.”
Presenting the support, Commissioner Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), who was represented by Permanent Secretary Hajiya Amina Yusuf Yargaya, said, “On behalf of the Kano State government under the leadership of His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf through the Hon. Commissioner, I present to you these items which include: flour, rice, maize, and palm oil, as support. Also, the government has promised to pay for your house rent for a year.”
In his response, Malam Abdullahi expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for establishing the Ministry, which aims to support the vulnerable and less privileged across the state. Malam Abdullahi promised to name his future daughter Amina or Yusuf (the Executive Governor’s name) in appreciation.
