The ongoing crisis in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State continues to dominate media outlets in the state.
Recently, the party suspended the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, and the Hon. Commissioner of Transportation, Engineer Ibrahim Diggol.
In a telephone interview, the Kano State Chairman of the NNPP, Dr. Hashim Dungurawa, confirmed that the suspension remains in effect until the investigation into the alleged offenses is concluded.
When our reporter asked the Chairman to further explain the allegations against the SSG,and Commissioner, he said, “The allegations are very serious because they involve attempts to damage the image of the party and attacks on the reputation of the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the party leaders through derogatory statements. This is why the party took immediate action against them, and we will release a report after the investigation.”
The reporter also asked the Chairman if the party might expel them if found guilty. He responded, “Why not? A party member must respect the leadership and obey its constitution. When someone does something that warrants disciplinary action, it should be carried out based on the stipulated laws governing the party. No party member is above the party’s constitution,” he emphasized.
Our efforts to reach out to one of the accused members to balance the story they have been not respond to the call or reply to our text message.
When contacting the Public Relations Officer, the Ministry of Transportation, stated that ” The Commissioner went out for an emergency meeting.”
Meanwhile, our door is open to hear from them about the matter.
