Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has presented a ₦549.16 billion appropriation bill for the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly.
The governor, who appeared before the House on Friday, explained that the 2025 budget focuses on Human Capital and Economic Development.
According to the budget, capital expenditure is allocated ₦312.634 billion, while recurrent expenditure is allocated ₦328.525 billion.
Correspondent Yusuf Idris Gama reports that the ministries with the largest budget shares are the Ministry of Education with ₦168.35 billion, followed by the Ministry of Health with ₦90 billion, and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure with ₦70 billion.
In his remarks after receiving the budget, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore assured the state government and the people of Kano that “the House will try its best to pass the appropriation bill into law before the end of 2024 to enable Kano people to start enjoying the budget by January 2025.”
Rt. Hon. Falgore also called on all organizations and individuals to bring their comments and observations during the upcoming public hearing that will be organized soon at the Kano State House of Assembly.
