Farmers of Jigawa State have donated food items estimated at over ₦33 million to the less privileged as this year’s rainy session Zakkat.
Speaking during the distribution in Roni local government, Alhaji Bala Muhammad, who was a member of the Kazaure Emirate’s Zakkat Committee, noted that the items were sourced from the farmers as Zakkat.
“Farmers from different communities had contributed the foods to the committee for onward distribution to the appropriate people, and we have continued collecting food items from affluent persons to give them out to the needy in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
However, we are encouraging people to also invest in our “Wakaf ‘ Programme ” Charity Foundation ” for expanding the program in supporting orphans, less privileged, and patients,” he explained.
In his speech, His Highness the Emir of Kazaure (Dr) Najib Hussaini Adamu said the Emirate has been using Zakkat as a means of supporting less privileged in the society and also to strengthen the chain of brotherhood among the people.
