A pro-democracy and good governance group, Beyond Border Alliance has threatened to occupy the Secretariat of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in protest of suspending its chairman Mamman Mike Osuman for criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group in a statement by its convener Ambassador Abbas Abdullahi Yakasai and made available to independent post, expressed support for Northern Youth Assembly (NYA) which earlier condemned ACF’s action of suspending the chairman over Anti Tinubu comment.
“We at Beyond Border Alliance are deeply disappointed by the ACF’s Board of Trustees (BOT) decision to suspend Mr. Mamman Osuman for criticizing President Tinubu’s anti-people policies”
The group explained that, this action is not only undemocratic but also shameful, as it prioritizes protecting the government’s interests over the welfare of the Northern Nigerian people.
“The ACF, established in 2000, with the aim to promote the political interest of Northern Nigerians. However, its recent actions have raised concerns about its commitment to this mission”
“We urge the ACF’s BOT to lift Mr. Mike Mamman Osuman’s suspension and restore his powers within the next 7 days.
Ambassador Abbas Yakasai then threaten that, Failure to do so will prompt them to mobilize thier representatives from the 19 Northern States for a sit tight at ACF secretariat in Kaduna, in the interest of the Northern Nigerian people.
“We believe Nigerians deserve better than the current administration’s policies, which have led to widespread hardship, and impoverished our people and the region”
“We call on the ACF BOT Leadership to note that, we would not relent or cowed in to be silent about this matter, unless necessary measures are taken or we may launch a regional campaign to support the emergence of a new capable leader from Northern Nigeria come 2027”
“Finally, We stand firmly in solidarity with the Northern Youth Assembly and the Nigerian people in demanding better representation and governance for the betterment of the Nigerian future”.
